Technological Internship
This is where I undertook my professional practice as part of my degree. I was given a project and mentor over the 2008 summer holiday period which has been very valuable for me. This opportunity really helped to further advance my engineering knowledge. In particular it helped to develop my problem solving, communication and time management skills. The majority of the time I was working by myself which meant I had to be independent and take responsibility for my work. The project incorporated multiple departments in the company which meant I had to interact with a large number of colleagues. This was invaluable as it meant I learnt the importance of good communication.I worked in an open office with 12 other colleagues, mainly technologists. I integrated seamlessly into the office and quickly developed good relationships with the colleagues around me. At the end of this project I had to present a presentation and a final report on my findings and recommendations to my mentor and plant managers. At the conclusion of this project I took out of it some very valuable experience in problem solving and some insight into real life application of my studies.
