This positions was an Estimator within the commercial team. I was responsible for the costing of projects, from either tender information or from surveys that I have carried out on properties.The projects consist mainly of domestic properties that require refurbishment and insulation, either internally or externally. Other duties within my role include investigating Energy Performance Certificates, helping source funding, including the viability of potential schemes from either Private investors or Green deal schemes.I have also worked for the new build energy team at Miller Pattison and my duties included sales order processing, checking contract values and terms to ensure they were acceptable for the business and I also project managed Solar installations on new builds and existing properties.

During my time working in a busy estates team I had a challenging and varied role which provided me with plenty of opportunities to develop my capabilities as a Building Surveyor. Utilising the skills and theory developed during my academic study I carried out Measured Surveys, Condition Surveys, generated and adapted CAD drawings, Dilapidation Surveys, and carrying out general inspections as and when requested.Throughout the placement I had hands on Project Management experience, including meeting clients and assessing their individual requirements. I provided support to other professionals during the design and feasibility stage of projects and assisted in developing specifications. Tendering and evaluating quotes was also part of the role and had involvement in appointing Contractors and scheduling the scheme of works.Health and safety was a fundamental part of all work carried out and included producing Risk Assessments, Method Statements and addressing any issues that could cause a delay in the building programme and to ensure safety of all site personnel and the public at all times. Other duties included manual archiving and using MiCad to archive the data electronically. The data consisted of 'As Built' information, drawings and other construction related information associated to that particular project.
