About Andy Rush
Not your Normal IT Guy!CIO / IT Director, Professor, Consultant, Running Coach and Martial-Arts instructor.I have been at the CIO / IT Director level in the IT field since 2004. I am an experienced IT Project Manager and have led IT projects to successful conclusions in areas as diverse as Hosted / In-House email and VOIP solutions to Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records installations and migrations. I have researched, negotiated, and implemented IT projects ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. As an IT consultant for over 20 years, I have worked with large companies with thousands of employees, to small businesses in niche markets. Before becoming an administrator, I worked for 5 years at a Technical Institute, as a computer training instructor, where I taught more than 40 software classes including the entire MS Office suite, to the power user level, and other, more specialized software, like Photoshop. I also taught technical classes by Cisco, Microsoft, and CompTIA, as well as Project Management, Web Design, and Coaching/Mentoring. I still pursue my love of teaching and giving back to the community, by teaching Cybersecurity at Tallahassee State College in their Workforce Development program.Outside of the office, I have been a martial artist for over 25 years and a coach for over 20. I won multiple national titles in full-contact fighting and wrestling. I have trained amateurs, professionals and military/para-military specialists. As a coach, I have taken my martial experience, as well as my experience as an elite high school runner, and funneled that into giving back to up-and-coming athletes. I have developed several All-Region and All-State award winners in cross country and track. Many of my runners have continued on to compete in national level competitions in both high school, AAU and USATF cross country and track, including Junior Olympics, as well as at national level meets for both the NCAA and NAIA.

Director Of Information Technology
Direct Report to CEO, providing technology vision and leadership for developing and implementing IT initiatives, as well as the strategic planning and execution of the IT vision, including the fulfilment of goals and initiatives that support NFWC’s long term objectives. Not only do I recommend, but I also implement all software and hardware solutions. I oversee IT related vendor relations, negotiations, and contractual arrangements. Ensure the safety and integrity of corporate data. Establish and enforce standards for the acquisition, implementation, and use of the information technology tools and processes throughout the organization. Technologies/Roles: Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management Administrator, Systems Admin of Windows Active Directory infrastructure running physical and virtual Windows Server 2016-2019 servers managing all aspects of Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, and DNS, as well as VPNs, Term Servers and all WAN, LAN, SAN, VOIP technologies and infrastructure.Since starting with the company, I have reconfigured the LAN to provide more address space, upgraded and expanded the Wi-Fi infrastructure across five non-contiguous floors in our professional office building, migrated from an in-house Exchange server to Office 365, designed, configured and installed a hosted VOIP solution allowing for a paradigm shift in call flow, call accounting and, ideally, a more patient-centric experience. During this process I negotiated new, contracts with both the existing ISP and a new ISP to provide redundant fiber connections – taking our bandwidth from 50 Mb/s and a single point of failure to a redundant 600 Mb/s for only twice the original 50Mb/s cost.
Cybersecurity Adjunct Professor
This class is an extended delivery session covering 10 months of instruction divided into sessions totaling a minimum of 16 hours per week. The three major sections are built around the CompTIA certifications: IT Fundamentals, Network+ and Security+. Since there are no prerequisites to the class, I begin each session by building a foundation of IT knowledge with the students using training materials, in-class scenarios and my years of experience. Once a foundation has been built, I then develop a framework of networking knowledge, supported by industry leader CompTIA Network+ training with a heavy emphasis on real world experience. Upon this framework, I fit one of the most pressing IT needs of the time - Security. Throughout the sessions I also bring in special speakers from the IT community, who have careers in IT Consulting, Security, Administration, etc. to address, inform, and motivate the class.
