After an enjoyable and successful previous engagement, I was invited back to UI Centric to help them deliver a Windows 10 universal app to work on tablet, phone and Xbox One platforms. This media app was commissioned by the US television company CBS. I primarily worked on the Xbox One branch to make the UI sympathetic to Xbox requirements, and optimize and reskin the video playback of live and on-demand video.

I worked for Microsoft, helping them deliver the Windows 10 (UAP / UWP) Facebook application. Considered internally as an indispensable piece of software for the Windows 10 mobile platform launch, the app was designed to run on desktop, phone and continuum. The app was built using the latest pre-production tooling and shipped as a first party app with Windows 10 Mobile image in November 2015. I worked primarily on the responsive UI and middleware, implementing UX designs, whilst ensuring the transitions between various sizes and form factors of devices work seamlessly.

Worked as technical lead on a project to deliver a large multi-screen, multi-touch NUI retail application called "Virtual Rail", showcasing Marks and Spencers products. This application was recently the centerpiece of M&S' new Flagship Amsterdam Store.http://retail-innovation.com/marks-and-spencer-open-food-store-with-a-digital-eboutique-concept/
I worked as part of a large team delivering a commodities trading application for a large multi national client.Development was in WPF.
Worked as a technical architect and developer, delivering a suite of applications to be used in both the education and policing sectors. These client/server applications are multitouch, Natural User Interfaces running on Microsoft Surface, Windows 7 platforms using WPF and Silverlight with Prism/MVVM design patterns.
I am working as part of a team delivering a vulnerable worker monitoring system for the UK emergency services. My work is very varied and includes WPF UI design and development alongside low level socket communications over the Emergency services Secure TETRA network.
Arrk won a significant contract to be one of three companies to write a suite of mobile applications using C# (Compact Framework) on Windows Mobile devices, to be used by various UK Police Forces over their secure TETRA network. It was my role to design, implement and deliver the parts of the solution won by Arrk.In parallel to this work I also provided my clients with a demo of a Time and Attendance system built around a fingerprint scanner on the Windows Mobile platform.
I was responsible for designing, developing and testing a proprietary project management and scheduling tool for Datel's internal use.
For the most part, my task was to integrate 3rd party hardware devices into the companies core scheduling software, by writing COM compliant software to control these devices. Typically these devices would be controlled through either an API or directly over TCP/IP or RS232. Some of the requirements for the software were complex multi-part, atomic processes, whilst some were very low level, energising and releasing individual pneumatic actuators in sequence to achieve the desired operation. The devices were combined to integrate into a fully automated robotic drug discovery platform for a major pharmaceutical company.
Wrote an implementation of the Blowfish Encryption algorithm for Windows CE Devices, this was used to encrypt data and write them to RFID tags. This software was later extended to provide encryption to the Point-of-Sale message queuing application below. In addition to writing the code, I was also responsible for the complete implementation of the system including key management policies etc.Successfully completed a mobile Point-of-Sale, scheduling and proof of delivery data capture system. The hand held computer software is written using C# (.Net compact framework). The system was designed to be modular, with all units abstracted by interfaces, ensuring future additions and modifications are as simple as possible. The hand held devices communicate using custom queuing software (Socket or HTTP) over a GPRS mobile phone network (or any TCP/IP network) enabling real time data capture, messaging and synchronisation of data.
