Following on from a successful bid to win the LOCOG portion of the Olympic project, I was asked to join the delivery team full time. The scope of the project was to deliver EBI/DVM security for 33 venues of varying size and complexity. My task was to manage the delivery team and develop a process to build, test and deploy fully functional systems based on site specific designs, with a standard core model. We used a partner facility as a test bed which was demonstrated and accepted by the client releasing a major payment milestone. Going forward the same model was replicated, allowing us to produce and test multiple venues at the same time, to meet very tight timescales. At this point I was responsible for a team of 2 DVM/EBI specialists, 2 Network engineers and 8 HAIL (Honeywell Automation India Limited) specialists.I was asked then to manage venue commissioning for a number of LOCOG sites. The systems which had been built and tested in the sterile factory environment were now being shipped and built on-site. This offered several unique challenges, especially around logistics, personnel, appalling weather, and having to manage several large and busy venues with tight timescales and limited resource. That said, I was successful in meeting these challenges and delivering every venue fully operational and within schedule.During this time, I also project managed the design and construction of a mobile control room for LOCOG, which would offer a disaster recover scenario for any of the external venues. The vehicle has been fitted out to accommodate the largest of the venues with three fully operational EBI/DVM workstations and associated back end functionality. The idea being that in the event of a control room being made unavailable, the vehicle could be driven up, systems made ready using locally stored images, and the site be back in action within a few hours depending on the size.

Managed external data connectivity and vendor liaison. This included circuit ordering and delivery, contract negotiation, technical reviews, and regular service meetings. As part of the ordering process, I invested time to thoroughly understand carrier connectivity to ensure cable route and carrier infrastructure diversity, to eliminate single points of failure. Goldman Sachs – Network Planning & Operations (Network Analyst)Managed the design, implementation and support of the EMEA WAN and LAN networks in a predominantly Cisco 6500 based installation. Core technologies LAN I was required to be familiar with included OSPF, BGP and PIM-SM as well as the IGX/BPX ATM network for the WAN. The role included an on call aspect as well as regular change control planning, notification and execution.Managed the Global WAN Environment. This role involved carrier liaison, service provisioning, trouble shooting and hardware maintenance.
