    Started fresh out of school as a Design Engineer for CPM - California Pellet Mill, a division of Ingersoll-Rand a manufacturer of pelletizing presses (animal feeds and wood pellets). I learned a lot about designing, manufacturing and servicing heavy duty process machining: gears, bearings, lubrication, machining, castings, forgings, metallurgy, heat treatment, failure analysis, welding and corrosion resistance. Within a couple of years I took direct responsibility for all new product development - operating as both a project manager and design engineer working on the details. I developed a reputation within the company and among our key customers as a professional able to get major new products to market successfully. When the company relocated its engineering department from San Francisco to New Hampshire, I was tasked with recruiting and training new department staff.
