Since 2001, Stage Combat Perth has provided fight direction and choreography, weapon and equipment hire, safety consultancy and other related performance solutions to a wide variety of companies including Black Swan State Theatre Company, Theatre 180, Perth Theatre Company, Deckchair Theatre, Barking Gecko, Yirra Yaakin, WA Opera as well as numerous independent theatre, film and television production companies.Stage Combat Perth is also the state’s leading stage combat training provider and has been regularly engaged by institutions including WAAPA, Principal Academy of Dance, Curtin University, Total Theatre Training, Central Institute of Technology, Film & Television Institute, Australian Opera Studio and various high schools.Stage Combat Perth’s Director, Andy Fraser, is a fully certified Fight Director and Stage Combat Instructor holding accreditation from the Society of Australian Fight Directors Inc., the British Academy of Dramatic Combat and Fight Directors Canada.Since relocating to Far North Queensland in 2019, Andy has expanded Stage Combat Perth's reach by choreographing fights for productions in Brisbane (Woodward Productions) and Cairns (JUTE Theatre Company) in addition to running workshops at numerous Cairns high schools and at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast. Operations in Perth have been maintained by Andy's assistant of ten years, Nastassja Norwood, and it is often the case that Stage Combat Perth has sessions occurring simultaneously at either side of the country.Andy has over 30 years experience as a choreographer, teacher and performer of stage combat and in addition to his work in WA, he has been involved in workshops and performances around Australia, in the UK and his native Canada.
