This system was packaged in a custom molded polyurethane enclosure. Overall, there were severe environmental constraints. This project resulted in patent US 7331842 B2 Contour Follower for tool, which is the hardware / software portion of the electronics. This project also resulted in patent US 7803036 B2 Method of using a Contour Follower, which is the system including the electronics and the software portion in the XY cutting system.Designed the Profibus communications backbone of a new generation of XY cutting system and a large portion of the IO blocks that the Siemens motion control system used to control the external devices.
