These duties include contract negotiation and writing, client touch points, and testing services capability growth and support.Sr. Quality Process Consultant - Fannie MaeIn a multi-vendor, many-application, variable SDLC, distributed-location environment, it can be quite challenging to present a single, comprehensive testing methodology that is adaptable yet consistent. This project incorporated analysis of all project types and environments, implementing best practices and standardization across all teams within the Accenture delivery of testing to Fannie Mae. Laying the foundational aspects as well as the long-term facilitation plan for a Testing Center of Excellence, training and managing the distributed teams, hiring and capability improvements, and senior client and internal stakeholder engagement were the primary duties of this endeavor. Sr. Quality Process Consultant - CITI At Citi Real Estate Lending, Andy was able to analyze and reform the UAT processes, manage the team, identify gaps and provide re-training to employees while taking direction from and delivering updates to senior management. In a single release cycle these changes resulted in no post-implementation defects of high or greater severity. The teams has maintained the positive results over several releases, and is set on a course of continuous improvement with the people, processes, training and tools to succeed. After successfully completing the UAT transformation, Andy was retained to continue the transformation throughout the rest of the Real Estate Lending technology teams through a process overhaul already in progress. This effort produced positive value in every group and function through reductions in redundancy, increased communications, and quality of delivery through the end of the engagement.

The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians (CTSI) hired Andy to open Siletz Technologies, an outsourced software testing center, train novice employees into expert testers, and sell the services to regional and national customers. In seventeen months we were able to hire seven tribal members, train them to Software Test Engineer level 2 expertise, and reach 100% billable status serving six new customers in five states. Andy was responsible for all operations, management, training, personnel, contract negotiations, sales, advertising and marketing, as well as budgeting, and all aspects of bringing a startup online in a new market.

In this sole-practitioner consulting role, Andy was able to increase profitability for several local companies by branching out into web design, kitchen design, menu design, graphic design, marketing and small business process consulting. Additionally, a new local Chamber of Commerce proposal was created in consultation with several agencies and businesses, then promoted before the city council.

The Area Information Records System (AIRS) project, a multi-agency initiative, brought together a law enforcement records system with a court case and financial management system including many modules shared by both courts and law enforcement. Creation of customized strategies and documentation supporting hybrid agile/iterative testing practices, and the associated team building and training, resulted in approximately 500% increase in efficiency with the same staff and product deliverables year over year. Andy was responsible for building all aspects of the quality approach including tools, data, processes, personnel, estimating, reporting, metrics, and governance models.

While with Russell, Andy was able to author, implement, and train in the entire QA process flow, establishing a department and team responsible for, and effective in, verifying and improving the quality of the central financial data warehouse. Successive iterations were able to show improvement in time to release per unit of complexity as well as a reduction in the severity of defects released. Andy’s work with the ETL Complexity Measurement Model allowed the team to accurately forecast projects and report on meaningful statistical analysis. Customized database comparison, test data population and obfuscation, and test automation models were created and implemented as well.

Saflink Corporation provides Biometric Network security products. As QA mentor and team/project lead Andy was able to help establish quality metrics, traceability, and complexity measurements that allowed the team to objectively track improvements over time as they explored various tools, technologies, and methodologies. Andy designed and implemented a performance/load/scalability test suite, tested all aspects of functionality, wrote technical documentation, developed and implemented a Software Complexity Measurement Model, performed UI/GUI, functional, integration, user acceptance, and other testing, managed defects and defect prioritization processes, and built and maintained test infrastructure and components.

Microsoft Corporation and the MSN/ Internet Services group are world-renown. In a very short period of time, Andy was able to help quantify and automate (using ‘SilkTest’) a previously neglected aspect of Children’s Passport for Microsoft reducing negative customer feedback.

Syncronex was a corporate data portal and data management company.As QA Manager at Syncronex, Andy was able to repair relationships between developers, project managers, upper management, and testers. Between providing understanding and cooperation between teams, rewriting the SDLC and SQLC, and developing accurate models for project scoping and costing, the team was able to significantly improve the way Syncronex made software. Every iteration saw both efficiency and quality gains over the previous release.

Andy started at Syncronex as a SQA Engineer responsible for all functional testing, test bed management, debugging, data analysis, training and directing junior team members, defect management, development of test plans, test cases, and test scripts, technical reviews, data quality and analysis, change management and other software testing duties.

Working for a shared testing group on NetMeeting, Messenger, MSN tools, Communities, Outlook Express, and Coral (aggregation tool) among other products was a career development experience that exceeded any collegiate program offered at the time. Andy learned and applied all of the software testing principles and processes required for manual, automated, performance, functional, non-functional, regression, system and integration testing as well as infrastructure and server management.
