Due to the ongoing pandemic, I wasn't able to gain much experience working in a lab in my program at Mohawk College. At ECCC (under the National Laboratory of Environmental Testing), the staff were aware of this and were very helpful in guiding me in the beginning. During my co-op term, I was tasked with analyzing two methods: 1) Analysis of conductivity, pH and alkalinity in precipitation, surface and ground water via PC-Titrate2) Analysis of colour in surface waters by spectrophotometric methodMy responsibilities included calibrating instruments, performing daily balance and pipette checks, sorting and releasing client samples, preparing reagents and standards, putting on official runs of the analysis' assigned to me, helping my trainer with their analysis, and submitting reports to clients through my supervisor.
