I’m an assurance and business advisory partner at BDO with overall responsibility for the media and entertainment team both in the UK and globally. I typically work with CFOs, CEOs and Boards advising on both business and financial strategic matters. My client base comprises mainly rapidly growing businesses, from well-backed start-ups to PLCs. The common theme is that they are focused on the media and technology sectors and are predominantly international and acquisitive groups, many of which are VC and private equity backed. Prior to BDO, I spent 3 years at Andersen in the mid market Corporate Finance Team (1996-1999), 6 months at Cable & Wireless in their operational review team and prior to that I spent 5 years at KPMG in their Information, Communications and Entertainment audit division. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester and qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1994. I am a Fellow of the Securities Institute and a member of the QCA committee on Corporate Governance. I am a frequent commentator on the media sector and recently helped write a QCA guidebook for audit committee members. Since 2012, I have been the UK firm's country coordinating partner for the BeNeLux region. I am an IFRS specialist and have significant experience in revenue recognition.
