As Regional Manager, I had the opportunity to lead and motivate a team of high-performing, client-centric Account Managers who created trusted relationships with our client base, which comprised both apprentices and employers. I took this time to personally develop and expand our connections across the Wellington region, working alongside organisations to help them navigate business and industry challenges, which included increased demands for apprenticeships and a changing labour market. We successfully achieved a 30% growth in apprenticeship sign-ups, alongside significantly increasing educational performance through the delivery of pastoral care and support to all learners. I was instrumental in cementing relationships with five tertiary providers, to deliver social and economic wellbeing outcomes for communities throughout New Zealand. As our service and product portfolio diversified from training to include wellbeing, culture building, coaching, mentoring and leadership development, my team’s focus was on adding meaningful value, identifying solutions for our clients, truly understanding their business and raising workforce capability. In 2019, I won the CEO Star Award for Excellent Team Leadership.

In my role as Account Manager, I worked closely with +85 employers and over 180 apprentices across the Wellington region, connecting them with job training and learning pathways, to increase workforce capability and support successful completion of apprenticeships. I understood the challenges that business owners faced in sectors that included plumbing, drainlaying and gasfitting, roofing and electrical, identifying solutions and providing advice to troubleshoot issues across business strategy, operational performance, financial planning, staff recruitment, and health and safety. During this time, I led a number of new, business growth opportunities, including establishing a new training model in the scaffolding industry that delivered tangible benefits to the sector and strengthened overall skill and performance.

I established the company in 2007 and in 10 years built the business up to be one of the largest tennis consulting businesses in the Wellington region, employing 5 full time and 3 part time employees across several locations in Wellington. The business was recognised for its contribution to the tennis industry in 2012, when I was awarded the Tennis New Zealand Club Coach of the Year award. The award acknowledged:• our professional and sustainable approach to business development• the strong advocacy and professional development, coaching and mentoring of our coaches subsidising Tennis New Zealand development courses (this also includes upskilling staff on the recent Health and Safety reforms)• the success of our participation and performance programmes that we developed for schools (building on their existing Physical Education programmes)• the relationships we built with clubs and communities that resulted in increased membership numbers and revenue, and has improved community engagement• and my contribution as an examiner for Tennis New Zealand Coaching programmes.
