I started in this role with no prior experience, and over the seven years became a skilled and integral part of the team, developing technical solutions, delivering training and support and becoming the key contact for the team. My main achievements were:• Highly skilled GIS technician with significant IT experience in a range of applications: Microsoft Office, MapInfo, SQL, FME, CAD, Web GIS applications, HTML, CSS. • Using my people skills to become the first point of contact for 700 staff throughout the UK and external partners by telephone, email and face to face.• Designing and implementing an organisation wide training and support system, which included one to one and group training for 15 sites across the UK. I later improved the support function implementing remote support software enabling the team to train and support staff remotely when needed.• Pioneering the use of E learning software within Sustrans to improve access to current information and training and motivating other teams to follow suit.• Successfully coordinated a number of projects, including two national volunteer projects using over 1,000 volunteers, leading on the construction of a multimodal decision making tool, and implementing a configuration management system for all feasibility studies undertaken within the organisation.• Responsible for accurate maintenance of a national dataset of cycle routes used by Ordnance Survey, Google and Local Government.• Production of high quality mapping, infographics and data visualisation featured online and in several national publications including: The Guardian, The Times, Country File magasine, and Sustrans books and reports.
