As a consultant of the Net Impact Pro-Bono Sustainability Consulting organization at Columbia University, my team and I worked with a circular plastic manufacturing start-up, RePlaste, in implementing sustainability strategies to its business. On this project, I advised our client on transitioning from a linear B2B model to a circular model focused on closed-loop plastic manufacturing. In this role, I also analyzed potential greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions across the supply chain post-transition and modeled the financial implications. To inform my recommendations, I researched and identified existing limitations of the circular economy for plastics and furniture, and performed a competitive analysis on the plastic manufacturing industry.

At Skysource, I primarily researched the renewable energy markets and performed carbon calculations for the WEDEW project. I advanced the deployment of WEDEW as a profitable project by compiling data on the machine's water and electricity capacity compared to a given local energy grid. I also analyzed the project's competitive pricing compared to local costs of water generation. Additionally, I assessed the emission reduction potential through WEDEW water generation and applied the data to assess applicable grants and financial credits to further finance the project. At the end of my internship, I created a slide deck with my research and calculations that will be used for future investor engagement.

During my internship at ASICS, I developed strategies to reduce supply chain emissions in the e-commerce and omni-channel departments through sustainable packaging solutions to support ASICS' 2030 and 2050 climate change targets. This required me to define the problem, explore and evaluate potential solutions, and provide a detailed recommendation with quantified impact for the firm.To do so, I conducted a thorough inventory of existing packaging practices at ASICS and identified industry best practices for sustainable packaging solutions. Using my findings, I conducted a life cycle analysis on current and alternative packaging solutions based on their material types using the Higg Material Sustainability Index. Additionally, I modeled the initial investment and projected future financial savings required in transitioning from current practices to proposed alternatives. Finally, I assembled a detailed proposal outlining potential pathways to reduce company emissions, which was presented to executive leadership in both the North America office and Japan headquarters.
