I am a 6th grade STEM teacher, and absolutely love it! I teach Math, Science, and two STEM modules. Those PLTW modules are Energy and the Environment, and Science of Technology. These modules teach the students about sustainability and alternative energies, as well as applied chemistry, applied physics, and nanotechnology. We are a project based learning environment, and I was just recently recognized at a school board meeting for excellence with common core in the classroom. I coach the school Science Olympiad team. I also have a Student Council, and two Environmental Teams. I stay active with MEEC (Mojave Environmental Education Consortium), and NASA. I have attended Honeywell Educators in Space Program, as well as their Green Boot Camp. I am PLTW trained and certified for Gateway to Technology Basic and Advanced. I am a also BTSA support provider.I have been selected as a Fullbright teacher for ESD (Education for Sustainable Development). I will be travelling to Japan with 23 other US educators this summer. While there we will have a home stay, learn about the culture. We will visit many schools, and we will also plan environmental curriculum with the 24 Japanese educators that are a part of this program as well.
