The position of Vice President marked an essential phase in my career. I took on the role of Motor Underwriter that involved close collaboration with Senior Management on underwriting proposals. In this capacity, my main responsibilities involved working with EFU Branches and coordinating with the Sales force and Development Officers for approval of motor underwriting quotes, rates, and terms.Key responsibilities:Analyzing insurance proposals, assessment of fleet information, analyzing statistical data to calculate potential risks and determined appropriate premium pricing.Negotiation with sales force/ DO’s for Motor Rates & Terms, Preparing Motor Business Quotations, specifying Terms & Conditions and providing support to branches.Providing technical assistance & support to branches, particularly in matters related to Motor Underwriting.Monitoring market practices and evaluating competitors' pricing models. Use market insights to optimize our own underwriting strategies.Monitoring the Motor Renewal List, focusing on loss ratios exceeding 50% and providing underwriter reviews based on customer profiles and claims status.Maintaining set KPIs to ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines. Collaborating with management to refine and optimize underwriting processes.

Promoted to the role of Assistant Vice President (AVP), I successfully embraced new roles and responsibilities within my work profile. This not only recognized my data expertise and motor business knowledge gained from past experiences but also showcased my ability to take on additional responsibilities.As a Team Lead for Reporting and Business Insights, my core responsibilities were focused on the preparation of various MIS reports for C-level management and inter-departmental reports for the reinsurance and finance departments. Working closely with senior motor underwriters and motor claim handlers, I played a crucial role in assessing and enhancing their understanding of key aspects such as pricing models (leasing/non-leasing segments), profitability analysis, client progress, segment-wise analytics (branch, client, vehicle, rates, sector, etc.), and claim analysis.One of my significant duties was the preparation of motor business reports on a quarterly and yearly basis for statutory regulatory authorities such as the SECP, IAP, and rating companies like JCR-VIS and AM BEST. These reports provided a comprehensive overview of the motor business's performance and compliance with regulatory requirements.Another responsibility I undertook was the preparation of motor business financial projections and forecasting for the upcoming years. By analyzing historical data, market trends, and business dynamics, I provided valuable insights and projections to support strategic decision-making and business planning within the motor department.I acquired in-house training and was appointed as the 'Risk Champion' to develop the Risk Register for the Motor Department. Worked in close association with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Committee. Identified inherent risks within the Motor Department and reviewing controls to mitigate/minimize associated risks with Motor insurance. Developed and maintained the Risk Register.

I had the privilege of being part of a major IT transformation initiative. As the backend IT structure shifted from COBOL to ORACLE, it presented a valuable opportunity for the Motor Department to revamp data structures and introduce new data fields and controls, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency.Working closely with the EFU IT team, I played a critical role in integrating the claims and underwriting systems of the Motor Department. This integration aimed to optimize operational processes and establish robust controls within the Motor Class of Business. By leveraging my expertise and collaborating with cross-functional teams, we successfully streamlined workflows and implemented effective checks and balances.The result of this effort was improved data accuracy, enhanced system performance, and increased productivity. I also had the privilege of being selected as a Task Force Member for ISO 9001:2008 certification acquisition. This opportunity allowed me to actively contribute to the preparation of work processes, the Controlled Document Master List, Quality Plan, and Quality Objectives for Motor Department.As a dedicated member of the Task Force, I diligently worked towards aligning the Motor Department's operations with the ISO 9001:2008 standards. This involved conducting comprehensive process analysis, defining work processes, and ensuring the proper documentation of controlled documents.

I was entrusted with the responsibility of automating MIS reports to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making effectiveness. This role was assigned to me as a new entrant to the company.The objective was to streamline the reporting process and eliminate drawbacks such as data inaccuracy, inconsistency, and time-consuming manual efforts. To accomplish this, I successfully executed a two-phased approach, focusing first on Motor Underwriting and later on Motor Claims and Recovery sections.Utilizing my expertise in Excel, Excel VBA, Macros, and MySql, I optimized reporting structures and automated various critical reports including Underwriting Analysis, Client Progress Reports, Branch Performance Analysis, Hotspot Analysis, Ageing Analysis, and Agents/DO's Performance Evaluation, among others.By implementing these automation solutions, I significantly reduced the report preparation time, minimized errors, and enabled quicker and more informed decision-making processes. This initiative greatly contributed to the overall efficiency of the organization and played a vital role in driving successful outcomes.
