EarthDefine is a GIS start-up founded in November 2013. I wear multiple hats and the scope of my role expands and contracts depending on the company’s needs and my availability. Among other things, I:• Direct sales efforts and help develop project proposals for the local and national markets • Network and develop relationships with new clients• Consult on talent acquisition and recruitment efforts in line with our scaling strategy• Contribute to our proprietary knowledge-base and thought leadership by identifying and interpreting how consumer trends and marketplace shifts affect business/product strategy and planning

• Managed all existing client apps across the mobile (Android, iOS, Windows Phone), web and the Windows Desktop platforms. o This includes our Direct to Consumer apps: Rhapsody (within the US) and Napster (EU and Latin America) apps, Rhapsody VR, and our cobranded apps like MTV and Aldi Talk (Germany) and VivoMusica (Brazil)• Visioning, scoping, framing the landscape, project roadmapping, requirements gathering, and backlog grooming • Determined and prioritized user stories, workflows, estimated defined stories and delivered on the road mapped features within estimated timeframes and budgets.• Provided execution oversight and management of client feature delivery and cross-functional/cross team projects and initiatives (typically including several teams like music content, editorial, platform, client dev/qa teams, partners, marketing, etc.) and removed roadblocks to deliver on the defined feature-sets.• Managed partner relationships, expectations and requirements on a regular basis and effectively dealt with partner-specific and sometimes conflicting priorities and issues like localization, international regulations, contractual obligations, etc.• Closely collaborated with Marketing, Acquisition, UX researchers, PR, Brand Strategy, Business Development teams partners, internal/external stakeholders and Sales to prepare, maintain, and evangelize product roadmap and to drive product adoption Personal Achievements:• Directly contributed to the customer base increasing from 1 million to over 3.2 million paying subscribers in the time frame that I've managed this portfolio.• Delivered on major upgrades and feature-sets to our existing product line for both the domestic and international releases: Windows Desktop Replacement product, new WebClient, Windows Phone app, new Playlist Lounge, new Search capabilities, Rhapsody KIDS, Rhapsody AUTO, Twitter audio cards, and the addition of new partner cobranded apps: Aldi Talk, Corinthians, Mercado da Musica.

• Facilitated onboarding of existing applications and defined new feature sets for the Enterprise WorkSurface (EWS) program. EWS is a cloud-based UI integration platform which allows views and functions from multiple applications to share context and seamlessly participate in end-to-end workflows across the different applications (with global scope and complexities). o Specifically oversaw the MSSolve onboarding project (MSSolve is an internal CRM application for all professional and premier customer support departments of the Microsoft service organization).o Led the delivery of enhancements and new feature development to labor tracking and review for federal complianceo Successfully delivered on a monthly release cadence of other WorkSurface Foundation components.• Visioning, scoping, framing the landscape, project roadmapping, requirements gathering, backlog grooming.• Defined user stories/use cases, functional specifications, UI/UX/Service specifications, UMLs (process flows).• Facilitated software delivery by leading cross-functional teams of varying sizes (audience teams, UI/UX Designers, DBAs, developers, test teams) and removing roadblocks to deliver on the defined feature-sets.• Collaborated with various business teams, engineering teams, and other stakeholders across all levels of the organization for each of the different applications that EWS interacts with.

• Defined and managed the end to end delivery of a new web-based, GIS product that streamlined 32 existing, standalone applications, and several new features into a single workflow. This new product enabled the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA/NRCS) users and clients to: o Identify several types and levels of problems/issues with land management, o Create plans for technical assistanceo Present different alternatives to clients based on land characteristics and the issues being resolvedo Select appropriate conservation practices to adopto Apply for financial assistanceo Certify conservation practices that were successfully adopted, and o Process payments in a streamlined process flow. • Visioning, scoping, framing the landscape, project roadmapping, requirements gathering, backlog grooming.• Led cross-functional teams of 8-10 members (analysts, developers, DBAs, release engineers) and collaborated with 50 plus user groups and key stakeholders across all levels of the organization for feature delivery within budget and on schedule.Personal Achievements:• Recognized time and time again at Phacil for excellence through the highest tier for bonuses and spot-awards.

Helped create the 2007/2008 National Insect and Disease Risk Maps and database, a composite of 188 individual risk models that attempt to predict how individual tree species will react to various mortality agents. My responsibilities included: functioning as the primary liaison between the Forest Health Technology Enterprise Team and various forest service agencies and partner organizations; coordinating data collection, managing and analyzing the data (mining, transformation, and modeling) as a member of a high-performing scrum team. • Managed relationships with every forest service agency (155 National Forests) and several partner organizations.• Created, analyzed and integrated individual insect risk models (decision tree and logistic regression) that predict the relative patterns, extent, and probabilities of national tree mortality rates.

Was the senior GIS/Remote Sensing analyst for the Great Plains Regional Office of Ducks Unlimited on several research projects (nest survival, wetland management, grassland risk studies). My responsibilities included managing and analyzing the data (mining, transformation, and modeling), multi-temporal land cover classification and change detection analyses, and developing/refining landscape metrics to drive conservation decisions.• Created and analyzed grassland risk models (cellular automata, logistic regression) that predict the relative patterns, extent, and probabilities of native prairie loss in the Missouri Coteau area.• Publications:o Stephens, Scott E., et al. As the senior research associate and adjunct faculty member, my responsibilities included: leading all spatial data management and analysis for several social services projects (SEMCA, MI-AIMH, OJJDP), developing and applying metrics to evaluate performance and drive planning and resource decisions, mentoring and supervising graduate and undergraduate students in research projects. I also taught SWRK 530: Social Work Research Methodology- an introduction to research methodology, statistics, and basic quantitative and qualitative research skills in the human services field.
