I’m the Founder and Executive Director of Ecoworks International, an organization established to work in Haiti. Our mission is to “Bolster Haiti’s capacity to feed itself sustainably and build shared prosperity”. We partner with, support, and invest in Haiti’s rural communities to jointly build on their strengths and expertise so they can take their achievements to the next level. We’re focusing on expanding agricultural production to attract bigger buyers and build a vertical value chain to promote local capital formation, and entrepreneurship which diversifies the local economy. We also integrate technology to innovate within our collaborative activities. I've been working with developing and emerging economy countries for the past thirty-five years. My projects took me to Africa, Asia, South America, East and Central Europe, and the Middle East. Haiti is my twenty-fifth country. Why Haiti? Because Haiti issued visas to Jewish families fleeing Nazi invasion. Many lives were saved. I’m paying it forward.

Founder And Executive DirectorEcoworks International Jan 2009 - PresentMiami, Florida - HaitiWe partner with and invest in Haiti’s rural communities to build upon their unique expertise in growing crops in the harshest conditions and help them increase their productivity and expand their markets. We collaborate to strengthen farmers’ existing associations or jointly establish new agricultural cooperatives, they own and manage. In order to buttress the local economy, we focus on integrating technologies and increasing local capital formation initiatives. Ours is an integrated economic development combining environmental protection and social programs, particularly in education and women's equity. We also respond to natural and man-made disasters in Haiti. -
Director Of Program Operations, Jdc-Idp (American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee-Idp)Jdc (The Joint) 1988 - 1996New York, NyI began my international development career at the JDC, the 116-year old organization ensuring the cultural and social well-being of Jewish communities around the world. JDC’s International Development Program, the JDC-IDP, focuses on helping non-Jewish community grow and prosper. This is where I worked and, in time, became its director. In that capacity, I worked in 24 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and South America. My responsibilities were to- Establish close relationships with host governments, assess needs, develop responsive programs, hire professional and support teams, and the regional director. - In person, continuously assess the programs and ensure their quality and ability to remain within budget and timeline. - Ensure that upon the programs' completion host governments took possession of them - as previously negotiated - and maintained their quality and functionality for the next few years. We also responded to major natural and man-made disasters, coordinating our activities with the U.S. State and other Departments, and the United Nations’ various divisions. We often collaborated with other major organizations such as the International Red Cross; the IRC (International Rescue Committee,) CRS (Catholic Relief Services), LWR (Lutheran World-Service), The Armenian Assembly, etc.Our programs helped hundreds of thousands of people around the world, who represented all political, religious and cultural backgrounds, and who shared our deepest values of human decency and valor. -
Assistant Curator Of PhotographyMinneapolis Institute Of Art 1977 - 1980As a trained art historian, I began my career as a graduate Intern, and then Assistant Curator in the Department of Photography, and then was hired fulltime. I continued at the prestigious Light Gallery in New York City and opened my own gallery in New York City. The most important task of any curator is to preserve the collection for this and future generations. I was fortunate to work on major museum exhibitions, do research, and acquire work for the permanent collection. In 1988 I pivoted and became an international development specialist.
