I completed a Bachelor of Information Technology with Honours Class I (scale I, IIA and IIB with I being highest) at James Cook University Townsville and achieved an overall grade point average of 6.531 (scale 1-7 with 7 being highest). I commenced a PhD and decided after two years that I would rather work than research.After finishing my studies, I worked at NQ Web Design and developed advanced skills in writing modular, object-oriented PHP, MySQL queries and standards-compliant HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery, and how to integrate my code with other software such as WordPress and PrestaShop.In 2010, I started my own web development company called Nethercott Constructions that specialises in PrestaShop development. I joined the PrestaShop forums and used my experience to help others and write modules. After doing this for several years, PrestaShop recognised my contributions by making me a PrestaShop Ambassador.Early last year, I was contacted by Hays Specialist Recruitment and offered a contract position at Townsville City Council (TCC). I decided this was a good opportunity to expand my skills and signed a three-month contract. While working at TCC, I learnt how to use Squiz Matrix to update content on their websites, use ServiceNow to manage all work requests, and use Mailchimp to design and send e-newsletters. My contract was extended for a further three months, as I became a valuable member of the team. In 2020, I was offered another six-month contract in the same position.I have exceptional problem solving and analytical skills gained during my education and by resolving customer problems on the PrestaShop forums. I also have well-developed communication and teamwork skills gained through work at NQ Web Design and Townsville City Council.
