This includes ensuring compliance with RID(The Regulation concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods), IMDG(The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code) and Irish rails safety management systems.- Scheduling timely delivery of inbound product in both Bulk tanks and containers to meet customers internal production requirements. - Scheduling timely positioning of suitable empty containers for export loadings and ensuring return to the Quay to connect with onward export sailings while giving consideration to Quay rent charges, and Dublin Port DG on quay Bye laws- Liaising with in house colleagues in Rotterdam, Dublin and Ballina, and also third party sub-contractors to ensure service levels are maintained.-Equipment management of IWT's own fleet of containers, and managing third party equipment functions with Ballina railhead functioning as an inland container depot.- Maintaining KPIs on the service, including CO2 emissions savings, load factors and on time performance- Managing claims where they arise- Commercial decision making, invoicing and cost management of the rail service.In addition to these duties I also manage air freight exports of DG cargo worldwide, including part and full aircraft charters and oversee inbound air and sea freight shipments, mainly FEWB to Ireland and cross trade. I undertook a work placement with Irish Rail during the course of my studies. During this time I was attached to the Engineering Strategy Team, which was tasked with introducing lean initiatives into the Engineering Departments of Irish Rail. My activities included conducting lean exercises, developing new strategies for implementation within engineering and generating reports outlining the work being undertaken by the Team.
