On our first shipping title, Black Hat Cooperative, Nick was instrumental in designing and building the first prototype of the game at the Global Game Jam where the game was conceived. He primarily worked on game design but was flexible in his role; he assisted with some of the code when engineering became the bottleneck. As we brought that game through production, Nick continued to wear many hats, but his primary role was level design. Nick built most of the levels in the game, and designed the metagame as well, structuring level progression and tutorialization. Nick tirelessly sought feedback on this progression, and tested and iterated on the tutorialization with new players whenever we got the chance, until the game could stand on its own without our intervention. Nick also has a good production mind; he is capable of brainstorming wacky and huge ideas when it's ideation time, but is able to identify what's important to go after when we're faced with actually building a schedule.
