I am the Founder and CEO of a purposefully driven organisation that empowers communities to build relationships with people who are neurodiverse.In 2016 I started a small business for my son who lives with Autism. It was created because for most of his life, he has been faced with significant challenges that impacted his ability to be included and authentically accepted by his community. His basic human right of inclusion was severely affected through a deep lack of awareness, concern and understanding, and this impacted our family who consistently responded to situations for his and our happiness, safety, security and wellbeing. Through his tenacity, resilience, his love of life and his passionate love of sport, especially cricket, he inspired our vision of a world where we are included equally. A vision that was already in the hearts and minds of all the people and families who have, and continue to experience, exclusion and isolation simply because they are deemed and judged as disabled.In 2019 that small business concept became a Charity and we have used our experience and knowledge of travelling over 35,000kms talking with communities about inclusion and curating cricket bat art exhibitions to bring awareness and response.Creating a socially impactful organisation and model has required insight, vision and determination and through Where There’s a Will, we have successfully created pathways that empower communities and their leaders and, offer authentic connections that build sustainable relationships and affect real change.Creating a more caring world has come from 26 years of lived experiences as a single mum, a carer to a young autistic man and, a relentless commitment to the pursuit of social justice.
