BV was formed in 1991 and it is the longest continuously operating African-American owned investment bank in the United States, with over 80% African American ownership.Ms. Avery joined the Firm in 2019 and is responsible for coordinating investment banking business development with Institutional Account Investment Managers, CFOs, Finance Directors, Municipal Advisors, Debt and Municipal Treasury Managers. Ms. Avery as a banker has worked with numerous state and local governments, school districts, development authorities, water and sewer systems and higher education institutions on municipal debt financing and capital market transactions. She has covered the State of Illinois, State of California, City of Atlanta, City of New Haven, St. Louis Treasurer’s Office, Harris County, and US Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority. Prior to joining Blaylock, Angela worked as Vice President of Public Finance for IFS Securities. Angela holds an MPA from the University of West Georgia, and a BA in Communications from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Ms. Avery is registered with FINRA and holds a Series 52 Municipal Finance license and Series 63 license.

Since joining IFS Securities in 2013, Ms. Avery coordinated investment banking business development with Institutional Account Investment Managers, CFOs, Finance Directors, Municipal Advisors and Municipal Treasury Managers. Ms. Avery as a banker, has with worked with numerous state and local governments, school districts, development authorities, water and sewer systems and higher education institutions on municipal debt financings and capital market transactions. Prior to joining IFS, for 11 years Ms. Avery served in various executive, planning and marketing capacities within the University System of Georgia. In addition, she has extensive experience with media relations, government entities and the non-profit sector. Angela holds an MPA from the University of West Georgia, and a BA in Communications from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Ms. Avery is registered with FINRA and holds a Series 52 Municipal Finance license.

Ms. Avery serves as the IFS client relationship manager/marketing executive whose principal duties are to ensure that the IFS clients are being provided the top standard of excellence. Ms. Avery assists in coordinating the deployment of the firms resources to both existing clients and new prospects. Ms. Avery also coordinates the firm’s marketing efforts on various platforms ensuring that the IFS brand is properly positioned within the financial, government, and corporate, sectors . She coordinates communications between the investment banking team, institutional sales team, and retail sales force, ensuring that our clients get the full execution capabilities of the firm in a properly coordinated manner.
