So much more than just a Radiology Clerk, others may call me an extraordinaire at what I do. I greet patients with a friendly smile and demeanor, answer any questions or concerns they may have about their testing, and keep them informed about their wait times. I greet patients with a friendly smile and demeanor, answer any questions or concerns they may have about their testing, and keep them informed about their wait times. In between patients I am answering phones, scheduling appointments, answering a multitude of questions, making imaging CDs, mailing films, faxing reports, checking in patient orders, making sure we have prior authorizations for exams, verifying insurance eligibility, making sure Medicare patient exams meet medical necessity, decoding provider penmanship, etc. I have a very thorough understanding of most of our programs and software. Coworkers often come to me for help with anything and everything. I am an Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system "Super User." I started in this position as a fill-in person when needed and took the full-time opportunity when it became available in Sep. 2008, leaving my previous Homecare Clerk position after seven years part-time. In addition to everything else, I possess fast and accurate keyboarding skills, a phenomenal grammar and spelling database, and a touch of perfectionism. I strive to always do my best. Working for nearly seven years as a Homecare Clerk, I was responsible for data entry of OASIS assessments and Plans of Treatment. Often I was crafting new forms and documents for the office or upgrading old ones. I answered phones, filed, faxed, copied, etc. It was standard office duties, and I always did them to the best of my ability.

Responsible for outpatient and emergency registration, which included collecting patient information and signatures, collecting payments, and answering & directing calls to the hospital switchboard.

Responded to medical calls within the township in which I live.

Helped as needed with skills testing of EMT-Basic students.

Joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve in May 2004. Graduated Basic Military Training as the Honor Graduate in my flight. Top graduate of the Aerospace Medical Service Technician course. Became a nationally registered EMT-Basic in January 2005 and let the license lapse in March 2008. Held Michigan EMT-Basic license from July 2005-July 2011. Briefly worked as an EMT-Basic on an ambulance responding to emergent (most of the time not-so-emergent) calls. Until this position, I did not realize I just wasn't meant to work in emergency medicine. I'd rather be behind the scenes than doing patient care. It was a learning experience.
