After 14 years of teaching at a school, I wanted to make a change. That’s why I started Innokas - an innovation center for young people. My greatest passions are IT and working with children. Innokas allows me to combine my love of education with the rewarding feeling of seeing children excited about learning. My goal is to popularize science and show children that learning can be enjoyable. I like being innovative, and that’s why I have spent almost twenty years teaching and guiding entrepreneurial-minded students. I have been a chief information officer, computer science teacher, and economics and business teacher. I believe that by being constantly involved with teaching at Innokas, I can keep improving our programs and see how we can further encourage children to explore new subjects. We don’t just focus on children’s education. We also believe that playfully introducing robotics, programming, 3D modeling, and other similar subjects to adults can be very beneficial. We have had 11 foreign companies visit us during their outings, and we have always proven that adults can have a lot of fun with us.In 2005, we started organizing the Researchers’ Night Festival with the help of Science Centre AHHAA. We also take part in fairs and provide workshops for both children and adults. Here are some of the awards Innokas and I are very proud of:◾ Entrepreneurship teacher of the year / Aasta ettevõtlusõpetaja (2012)◾ European Enterprise Promotion Award for investing in entrepreneurial skills in Estonia (2016)◾ Science Communication Award in Estonia / Eesti teaduse populariseerimise auhind (2016 and 2019)Our goal now is to start offering companies a chance to educate their teams in a fun way.
