Angela has been baking since the age of eight. When everyone in the neighborhood was outside playing in the summer she was inside with her grandmother baking due to her server allergies. In the ninth grade, Angela dropped band and took culinary arts as an elective a class that was only offered to juniors and seniors and excelled in the class. Ever since then, Angela has been putting her own uniqueness on cakes, cookies, pastries and breads.After losing her job as a commercial banker in 2009, Angela decided to perfect her craft and took cake decorating classes at Michaels Craft Store in Merrillville IN. There she earned four certificates and was offered an internship to work with the class instructor. After completing a cake that resembles a Facebook Page, requests to make other custom and sculptured cakes were taken and her skills and creativity were put to the test. In June on 2010 Angela decided to embark onto a new career and incorporated Angel Cakes, LLC. The year of 2011 became a professional turning point. The popularity of her brand grew enormously and dramatically in one fell swoop. Her staff grew from only herself to her hiring 3 additional people. She has made a newspaper (Post Tribune) and TV appearance on ABC (Windy City Live), met Candace “Sprinkle” Nelson from the famed “Cupcake Wars”, and even got an invite to the 2012 Bridal Expo being hosted by Northwest Indiana Times. Added to that she competed in and won second place in the 2011 Michael Jackson Convention cake contest and became a food sponsor at a couple of “launch parties” in downtown Chicago. She is currently the Farmers Insurance's 2013 Dessert Wars Contest Winner and was the premier dessert vendor and one of many corporate sponsors for their March of Dimes Charity Event. She also was selected to do Micheal Jackson 55th birthday cake, a cake for Alfred Edmond, senior vice president/multimedia editor-at-large of BLACK ENTERPRISE and featured on Bossip.com.
