Managed PPD Med Center Preventative Maintenance Team (staff of 28) which covers all preventative maintenance of hospitals, clinics and education facilities at the University of Kentucky Hospital Chandler campus and UK Good Samaritan campus.Managed PPD design team (staff of 6) that provided engineering and architectural designs for Med Center construction projects. Established design processes and standards and re-organized the team to better meet the needs of the Physical Plant construction team. Design projects included: MIS OR Upgrade at UK Good Samaritan Hospital, 4 North Renovation at UK Chandler Hospital, and KY Clinic Elevator Upgrades. Provided construction and engineering oversight on capital construction projects for Med Center patient facilities and classroom buildings. Projects included: UK Good Samaritan Fourth Floor Renovation, Wethington Building Ground Floor Classroom, Gill Heart Ground Floor Renovation for the Gill Imaging Center, Kentucky Neurosciences Institute on the first floor of KY Clinic Warren Wright Medical Plaza, UK Good Samaritan Emergency Generator Upgrades, Third Floor NICU and Nursery Renovation in CCC. Supported Med Center Physical Plant director and maintenance operations managers with engineering problem solving, project management, and process improvements.

Managed a Color Laser Electrical Hardware Development Team (staff of 7), which focused on development of all electronic hardware, circuit boards and controller chips for a new low-end laser printer project in design.Led the redesign and change from two discrete to one universal LVPS, working with my development team, our supply chain and manufacturing team, and the supply planning organization. This research resulted in a new process for printer customization and a savings of over one million dollars over the life of the program.  Managed electrical hardware for integration and testing of HDT printers, creating test plans, and facilitating test execution and evaluation of test results and consequences as we assessed this hardware in our labs.  Successfully delivered all electronic hardware for EVT build and testing, updating designs per requirements and test results in HDT. Worked with the controller development team, power supply sourcing team and my own team to meet program dates and quantities with high quality hardware. Managed a Monochrome Laser Product Development Team (staff of 10) which focused on development and testing of Lexmark designed paper handling systems for two products in our low end mono laser printer product family. All hardware was delivered on schedule, meeting all functional and cost requirements. Led a task force on jamming issues with a product that was trying to exit our DVT testing in PA. Worked with our fuser manager and product manager to focus attention on the appropriate issues and find solutions and new, robust design concepts quickly. As a result of this work, the product team was able to close all issues and announce on schedule with a quality product for our customer. Mentored and managed several new engineers from our Cebu development facility. Found unique assignments and training methods to encourage their learning as well as to create a mutual respect and friendship with their peer engineers in Lexington.

Provided engineering support and project management for current digital office products. Led transition management engineering teams to ensure successful product announcements and standardization of processes for transitions. Completed Six Sigma Black Belt project focused on end of life product transitions and effective transition processes which saved the company over three hundred thousand dollars in product scrap in 2004 and established an ongoing process that would continue to save the company during product transitions.

Supported business objectives to reduce total costs, improve inventory turns, and increase supplier flexibility. Provided strategic planning and project management for new product announcements and other supply chain related projects and initiatives.

Implemented end-product usability and customer experience testing for Worldwide Marketing which allowed key product manager’s to better evaluate customer requirements for future color products. Partnered with Development to address quality concerns and redefine current product positioning in a very dynamic printer market.

-Tracked and updated capital construction projects and invoicing for Facilities Engineering 2002 capital budget. -Provided electrical engineering support and project management for five buildings onsite composed of technical labs and office space. -Coordinated power and telecommunications systems design and installation for new 180,000 square foot software development building onsite. -Reviewed and implemented state-of-the-art telecommunication system design, totaling 1.5 million dollars in gigaspeed copper cabling, fiber, and IP voice communication technology. Worked closely with technical engineers and designers at Lucent Technology, Avaya, and Annixter to satisfy customer requirements. -Provided technical evaluations of products by correspondence with manufacturing engineers from furniture suppliers to choose new standard office and lab furniture.
