My primary responsibility is to set up a consistent Occupational Therapy that is culturally appropriate across the lifespan. This involves thorough service planning, community consultation, service delivery and recurrent evaluation. This service is being rolled out in 5 remote Indigenous communities (Aurukun, Kowanyama, Pormpuraaw, Lockhart River, Coen) in the central Cape York region under an outreach model (FIFO). Responsiblities:• Setting up a brand new Occupational Therapy service in a remote / rural setting• Regular travel (3/4 weeks) providing an outreach OT service for all ages across the lifespan • Sending invitations, completing joint consultations, conducting community visits and attending / partaking in community events while on outreach • Regularly engaging with and seeking feedback from communities to ensure service delivery aligns with a culturally centred healthcare framework• Advocating for sustainable and tailored interventions based on each individual community / clan• Liaising effectively within a multi-disciplinary network including general practitioners and specialist care teams, paediatricians, ENT, kidney care, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, audiologists, nurses, Aboriginal health workers & care co-ordinators• Providing and directing service delivery in both face-to-face and telehealth settings• Thorough documentation and reporting including progress notes, reports, risk assessments and alerts• Reporting and analysis of waitlist data to maintain constant evaluation of service delivery and service accessibility• Committing to professional development by attending and partaking in professional development days, seeking out additional learning and working closely with specialists• Writing a business case to increase Occupational Therapy services by highlighting existing service demands, scope of profession and importance of person / community centred care

My primary responsibility was to manage a joint paediatric and adult occupational therapy caseload across three sites. This involved prioritizing caseload demands, while remaining person-centered, and tailoring interventions / therapy to achieve the most positive outcomes. My primary responsibility at Calvary John James Hospital is to manage the 20-bed Rehabilitation Ward. This involves being the go-to Occupational Therapist for the staff on the ward, and being the first point of call for the patients occupational therapy needs. Achievements:• Successfully completing intial needs assessments • Successfully completing home vists for access needs, transfers, equipment, safety, confidence and modifications• Pressure manangement for inpatients• Succesfully completing discharge summaries/handovers• Liasing effectively within a multidisciplinary team• Actively engaging in case conferences and advocating for the patient• Thorough documentation into the online VITRO system as well as documentation into the patients chart when necessary• Running the pre-admissions clinic• Developing and co-ordinating falls prevention outpatient services • Liasing with other health services as required• Making appropriate referrals for equipment/services• Arranging supports and/or equipment for DVA patients

Indian Affair Restaurant was my first introduction to hospitality over 10 years ago. The business has given me invaluable client service and interpersonal skills. With knowledge of all operations of the business, I was able to progress to a Manager for this establishment in the last three years. This role has challenged my ability to deal with unforseen circumstances and a high pressure environment subsequently developing my managerial skills to a whole new level. 
Achievements:• Leading the training of new staff with a focus on a high level of client satisfaction• Successfully working with a broad range of clientele - young children up until the elderly• Having the skills to constantly re-evaluate the service and assess what needs improvement• Successfully coping under high pressure during busy service periods maintaining the ability to manage

My primary responsibility at Grand Pacific Health Partners in Recovery is to complete Occupational Therapy Assessments for participants of the program in preparation for the NDIS.Achievements:• Successfully engage with complex participants in Southern NSW• Home Visit Assessments in rural areas• Work with various Support Facilitators and Peer Workers to gain a comprehensive understanding of daily functional impact on individuals• Support the NDIS pre-planning process• Promote achievement of outcomes and monitoring of progress against measures • Prepare reports, case notes and other required documentation• Successfully advocate for people suffering from mental illness• Quality improvement projects• Highlight and advocate for the role of Occupational Therapists in a mental healthcare setting

In May 2016, my final placement was with an organisation that did not have an occupational therapist employed. This is considered a “role-emerging placement” whereby as a student I am responsible for highlighting the purpose and need for an occupational therapist within the health service. Grand Pacific Health (GPH) advocates health promotion aiming to address the gaps in mental health services in rural communites of Southern NSW under a recovery model. Achievements:• Successfully educated and advocated the role of Occupational Therapists in a mental health care setting• Succesfully completed a project from start to finish including risk analysis/assessment, a detailed project plan, pre-evaluation, SWOT analysis and post-evaluation• Highlighted the role of Occupational Therapists in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)• Developed an assessment tool to gather information from consumers about how they felt their mental health impacted their daily life including self-care, productivity tasks, leisurely activites, education/work and social interaction• Completed semi-structured interviews in the homes of consumers, expected to be eligible for NDIS funding, in order to produce supporting evidence for their access request forms• Sucessfully completed a number of detailed Occupational Therapy Daily Living Reviews that were passed on to the agency at the completion of my placement

During my masters degree, I was given the opportunity to partake in an international placement in Canada at a Rehab Hospital in London, Ontario. I completed a student placement with CAMHS Northside (BHC). Over this period, I learnt about the role of Occupational Therapists within mental health. Achievements:• Successfully operated ACT Health’s MHAGIC system to input clinical notes • Completed intake appointments with potential candidates of the program• Led multi-disciplinary team meetings• Planned and delivered therapy sessions under supervision to children with moderate to severe mental health issues as well as completion of necessary documentation• Prepared and completed home visits under supervision• Supervised and managed a cooking group for children aged 12-17 attending the Cottage Adolescent Day Program with a goal to reduce mental health symptoms and increase functionality in areas of schooling, socialising and home life• Completed sensory profiling on select individuals and provided suggestions of stimuli to incorporate in the classroom in accordance with sensory processing• Gained knowledge of other mental health services in the ACT by spending some time at Perinatal Mental Health, the Adult Mental Health Unit and the City Community Mental Health Team

As a part of my Masters degree, I completed a brief practical placement with the National Capital Private Hospital in acute rehabilitation. Achievements:• Gained an understanding clinical notes, medical terminology and abbreviations• Conducted initial assessments, kitchen assessments, transfer assessments and home visits under supervision. • Successfully maintained confidentiality and privacy of clients• Played an active role in falls prevention education • Attended home visits with a supervising Occupational Therapist to determine modifications necessary for the home• Worked collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
