With more than three decades of experience in customs brokerage, Import Compliance, Export Regulations, and International Trade Law, I have expert knowledge of tariff classifications, documentation requirements, and the application of the laws, rules, and statutes of the HTSUSA, Title 19 CFR, Binding Rulings, court decisions, and other legal precedent. In addition to my strong regulatory knowledge of Customs' laws and the requirements and restrictions of its partnering government agencies (FCC, FDA, USDA, FWS, CPSC, etc.), I have a current and relevant understanding of AD/CVD cases, IPR rules, FTAs, Rules of Origin, C-TPAT MSC, and Section 301 Tariffs. Beyond the import/export clearance and transactions, I have a keen understanding of certain post-entry processes which may be required for duty/tariff mitigation or other remedial efforts, such as Post Summary Corrections, duty drawback, reconciliation, and First Sale for Export.Having established and managed import compliance programs for medium to large global corporations, I have the necessary skills to thoroughly analyze the links in the supply chain, assess risk, and assign the appropriate measures to mitigate that risk. Always cost conscience and seeking to improve profitability of the company, I am effective at developing and enhancing compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls, training staff, and implementing and enforcing those process improvements. My professional license and career successes have brought me the recognition, accolades, and advancement that make me proud, and I am, by all accounts, an accomplished, seasoned, and reliable expert in my field. Yet, I felt that was falling short of reaching maximum growth and realizing my full potential, so I embarked on a journey to support my career and bolster my credentials. In 2018, I returned to college after a 27-year hiatus from the classroom during which time I scored major achievements in my career. However, the one thing I always intended to do was to finish college and have a degree along with my professional credentials. In the fall of 2020, I obtained my Bachelor of Science, International Business (BSIB), and then in January of 2022, I obtained my Master of Science, Business Ethics and Compliance (MBEC), and I was proud that I maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout just as I had always done! Each course I took was relevant to my field of expertise, and I enjoyed being able to bring some real-world experiences to the classroom and to learn, grow, and to apply the lessons I studied to real-time events occurring at work.
