I am an award-winning, international public relations veteran and journalist of more than 25 years. In 2002, I founded Inkovation, Inc. in Chicago, a boutique public relations firm focused on food from farm to fork, promoting agricultural commodities, science and technologies. Today, I consult and write from Brussels. My expertise is in creating and executing public relations plans, strategic communication and partnerships, external relations, content creation, publishing, media training, communication coaching, networking, event planning as well as international market development and promotion. I am a subject expert on food systems, gastronomy, nutrition, travel, culture and tourism. I created and led international public relations campaigns in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, India and South Korea, working with reporters and spokespeople to promote sound science about food and health issues. My team and I secured numerous media placements with major news outlets. My firm received several awards for its work in media relations. I also conducted communication workshops in the United States, Belgium, Indonesia and Vietnam. Throughout my career, I have also served as managing editor of many publications, including consumer and trade magazines as well as two cookbooks. I created an award-winning trade magazine and other print and digital publications for clients as well as developed websites. I have also written numerous articles on lifestyle topics, such as travel, culture, food, art and architecture, for various media. I was European features correspondent for ART + DESIGN magazine and am currently a regular contributor to The Brussels Times Magazine. In 2022, I received first place in the 2022 M.F.K. Fisher Prize by Les Dames d’Escoffier International for my BBC.com story “Europe’s 500-Year-Old Seafood Tradition.”I received a B.A. degree in English from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. I studied for a semester in Paris, France, at the Ecole Françoise des Attaches de Presse while working at France Soir Ouest, a regional supplement to the national daily newspaper France Soir. I have also done graduate work in communications and business as well as studied humanity and cultures on every continent and nearly 100 countries.
