Oversees the expansion of the association’s National Diabetes Prevention network to ensure that high quality diabetes prevention is accessible to everyone, in every community. Working with our DPP Team, I direct our 5-year cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (1705) to reach Latinos, African-Americans, American Indians, long-haul truckers, Medicare beneficiaries, and other priority populations within underserved rural and urban communities.

As Program Director for the University of Chicago's Center for Asian Health Equity, I worked with researchers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders, as I managed a team of public health managers, coordinators, assistants and interns, to activate innovative approaches to achieve health equity for Chicago’s AAPI immigrant communities. In this capacity, I managed the Center’s public health programming in substance abuse prevention, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Hepatitis B prevention and treatment, and access to care initiatives. In addition, I have collaborated with Center researchers to evaluate programming through unified demographic profiles, community-based participatory research, and qualitative and quantitative research methods. I have prepared federal, state, and private grant proposals, reports, and site visit presentations for a variety of funders, and I have facilitated coalition meetings, presentations, webinars, and other programs to disseminate best practice models across AAPI and immigrant communities nationally.

Evanston, Illinois

As Senior Supervisor for Rotary's Programs for Young Leaders, I provided information, resources, and support to Rotary's global network of community volunteers. By equipping and empowering these local champions, my team ensured that Rotary's programs for young leaders were activated in schools, universities, and communities worldwide. I supported two international committees, advised "grasstops" leaders, and connected directly with grassroots volunteers through awards, social media, and global meetings that engaged hundreds of young people.

As Program Manager at Action for Healthy Kids, I directed the development and launch of a national youth advocacy program, Students Taking Charge, to create healthier and more active schools. I supported more than 20 Action for Healthy Kids Teams--volunteer powered coalitions--in their communications, volunteer engagement, and fundraising. I oversaw more than 30 funded programs to create healthy schools in diverse urban and rural communities.

As the Senior Coordinator of Health Programs, I planned, developed, and implemented public health programming for Chicago's diverse communities; collaborated with community partners to develop population-specific interventions; provided technical assistance and training in the area of nicotine dependence; served on the national Facilitators' Panel for a revision of the Freedom From Smoking program; piloted a Brief Intervention training for medical professionals at area hospitals, health centers, and insurance companies; acted as media “expert” for television and print inquiries

As Development/Public Relations Associate, I secured more than $200,000 in an 8-month period; wrote and edited weekly staff and quarterly donor newsletters, press releases, and the agency’s annual report; Created and co-facilitated a bilingual improvisational theater program that supported life skills development for high school youth

Working for IRD, I coordinated K-12 literacy classes through Midwestern universities, including the University of Michigan, University of Toledo, Northern Illinois University, and University of St. Thomas (Minneapolis, MN); created a dynamic and welcoming classroom environment based upon mutual respect, professionalism, and high expectations of all students; worked individually with students to overcome barriers to school success; partnered with parents and families to support their children’s fluency, comprehension, and learning skills with evidence-based strategies
