I joined what was then known as John Derek Security, a locally-focused security provider in the Wetherill Park industrial estate in western Sydney.Over the next decade, working closely with the two amazing directors who wanted to grow the business to become a national player, I had their full support to develop and build the company’s corporate identity. The strategy involved developing the inaugural PR plan including the development of a corporate image/brand/logo devt, promotional material, livery, original website design copy, photography & liaison with graphic design agency, media strategy/relations, publicity/editorial, sponsorships, industry stakeholder liaison and collaborations including ASIAL and the Fairfield Police Local Command, etc.By the time I moved on in 2009, we had become a nationally recognised Grade A1 electronic security provider with offices along the eastern seaboard, with a view to expanding into the national market.

As a Community Consultation Officer, I coordinated and implemented community consultation projects with regard to contentious issues, wrote and produced issues documents, public education campaigns, and event management. I acted as Facilitator in monthly community consultation meetings and reported back to Sydney Water to promote consideration of community views in planning.As a Publicity Officer in the media unit, I supported the Media Spokesperson, writing and issuing media releases for Sydney Water and several successive Ministers & NSW Premiers, and acting as media spokesperson when required.I thoroughly enjoyed working with all my colleagues at Sydney Water, and remain appreciative to this day for the terrific foundations the people and organisation offered me.
