Angela Scott Abdur-Rasheed has devoted her career to helping elevate others. The Alabama native is the Communications and Community Engagement Director at Prosper. She is also President and Founder of The Amplify Agency, LLC. (www.theamplifyagency.org) providing consulting services amplifying workforce development, communications strategies and literary support. Prior to those simultaneous careers, she was Senior Director of Economic Empowerment at YWCA Central Alabama. Included in that tenure were 11 years helping lead an award winning AmeriCorps program igniting national service on a local level for more than 430 AmeriCorps members who served with 56 Birmingham-based nonprofits or programs. Angela also supervised and supported the staffs at Family Resource Center, My Sister’s Closet and Workforce Development/Entrepreneurship. She is also a former television and radio broadcaster.With a Telecommunications and Film degree from The University of Alabama and a certification in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from The University of South Florida, Angela is regularly sought to speak, facilitate and train others. Angela was honored as Top Nonprofit Leader in 2024 by Minority Business Awards and selected as Top 50 Over 50 for 2024. She is a graduate of the 2023 Class of Leadership Birmingham and was one of Birmingham’s Top Women for 2022 according to Birmingham Business Journal. Angela has served with, trained for, or trained under more than 30 organizations including American Express Leadership Academy, America's Service Commission, Girls Inc., BABJ, Woodlawn High School, Kaiser Family Foundation, Easter Seals, STRIVE Birmingham, Poynter Institute of Journalism, Oasis, Governor’s Office of Volunteer Services, and James Rushton Early Learning Center, and BSHRM.Angela enjoys time with her family, binging HGTV, King of Queens, documentaries and A Different World, admiring Dolly Parton and writing.
