Violinist, Angela Scalise, is equally at home playing in the classical genre of music as well as more contemporary styles such as jazz, rock, pop, and hip-hop. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and her Master of Music degree in violin performance from Wichita State University. While residing in Los Angeles from 2000-2015, Angela performed regularly with many orchestras including the Riverside Philharmonic, the Santa Barbara Symphony, Opera Santa Barbara, and the Pacific Symphony. She also played in Southern California performances for the American Ballet Theater, Mark Morris Dance Group, and the Joffrey, Bolshoi, and San Fransisco Ballet orchestras. She made multiple television appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, The Grammy Awards, The American Music Awards, The Academy Awards, and Great Performances on PBS playing with artists such as Josh Groban, Clay Aiken, Kanye West, and Michael Buble. Angela also performed live with a wide variety of artists such as Frank Sinatra Jr., Tony Bennett, The Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jethro Tull, Michael W. Smith, Don McLean, and Dave Stewart. To fulfill her love of big band music, Angela had the honor of playing in the string section with Dean Mora and His Orchestra at the legendary Cicada Club in downtown Los Angeles. She was also active in musical theater and played for many productions including Chess, The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, State Fair, Sweeney Todd, and Once Upon A Mattress. Most recently she played violin in a four-piece band for the production of The Immigrant at The Colony Theatre in Burbank, CA.A dedicated teacher as well as performer, Angela was a member of the music faculty at Pasadena City College from 2001-2009.Angela recently relocated from LA to North Carolina. She is currently a member of both the Durham Symphony and Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle.
