I am the Biotechnology SBU Director and Lead Biomedical Engineer for Nanomatronix, LLC, a Northwest Arkansas-based engineering firm focused on using nanotechnology, microelectronics, and biotechnology to provide solutions to the healthcare, energy, and defense industries.I joined the Nanomatronix team in 2018. Over the past, 4 years I have submitted multiple federal grant proposals on varying topics from Immunology, poultry, bovine health, and biomedical technologies. Overall, I have helped with proposal writing, project management, marketing, and customer discovery. In addition, I was the technical lead for the Avian Immunology Dermatological Test (AvIDT) service, a for-profit service model to evaluate immunological response of poultry through a patented, growing feather method. In addition, I served as the Technical Lead for a Nanomatronix team participating in the NSF National I-Corps Program. This experience led to enhanced knowledge of commercialization and customer discovery through the lens of the Lean Canvas Model. I am currently managing a DHA Phase II contract and an AFWERX Phase I contract for our blood-brain-barrier chip AMBIT.Prior and during my employment at Nanomatronix, my scientific career has focused on working with infectious diseases, autoimmunity, poultry science and neuroscience. Throughout the years (8+), I have trained and been responsible for multiple coworkers. Additionally, I have helped manage a research lab and worked in various environments where teamwork, leadership, organization, and positivism were necessary. At Missouri State University, I worked on multiple projects focusing on the coinfection of Influenza A Virus (H1N1) and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Specifically, I researched the role of the cytokine IL-1β and the signaling axis responsible for its activation. During this project, I was able to work with in vitro cell cultures and become proficient at using several techniques.In 2018, I began my Ph.D. work with Dr. Gisela Erf researching the autoimmune disease Systemic Sclerosis/Scleroderma. Additionally, I have ample leadership experience. I was the president of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student Organization, At-Large representative of the College of Engineering and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee Co-Chair of the Graduate-Professional Student Congress and have been part of business programs that focused on customer discovery (regional NSF I-Corps), IP, project management, commercialization, and networking. I am also a Technology Mentor for Science Venture Studio.
