Highly motivated and academically focused baccalaureate, with a background in physics, astronomy, and lab-based undergraduate research. Interested primarily in the fields of aerospace and optics. Thrived in classes whilst pursuing undergraduate degree at CU Boulder. Majored in Physics, minored in astronomy. Efforts culminated in a 3.93 grade point average, ranking within top 10% of graduating class. Favorite assignments consisted of projects focused on application, such as multi-body simulations in Python, an analog AM radio receiver, and a mock review paper on DNA liquid crystals. Joined CU’s Liquid Crystal Group in September of 2018, with research assistant Dr. Greg Smith as supervisor. Individual research focused on the alignment of ultrashort DNA via fiber pulling, which required learning both polarized light microscopy, as well as the basics of x-ray diffractometry. This research led to the independent design and creation of a simple device which could remotely pull DNA fibers. Said device was built within size constraints, and also required the precise machining of custom parts.
