Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Angel draws inspiration from her mother's tenacity in providing for their family despite adversity. This ignited Angel's drive to create a brighter future for her family and shaped her into who she is today. Her life motto, "Be who you needed when you were younger," fuels her passion for extending life-changing opportunities to those in need.During her collegiate career at Texas State University, she actively participated in various student-led business organizations. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 2013.Angel's work experience began at 16 with the Target Corporation and continued to evolve through her sales internship with the CDW Corporation, both Fortune 500 companies. Subsequently, she ventured into Sales and Marketing with the CPG giant Nestle. She served in various roles in this Global 500 company, including Sales, Marketing, and Corporate Training. Transitioning to the nonprofit sector over five years ago, she is now an integral leader of the Marketing & Communications Department for Austin Habitat for Humanity.Currently serving as the Director of Marketing & Communications for Austin Habitat, Angel helps direct all strategic marketing and internal & external communications initiatives for the organization and its sister organization, HomeBase. She helps lead her team in advancing the organization's mission of building homes, communities, and hope to help local families achieve their dreams of affordable homeownership.In addition to her work at Austin Habitat, Angel has always been passionate about photography, graphic design, public relations, and branding. In her spare time, she operates Angel Leverett Photography + Creative, assisting small businesses, local organizations, and entrepreneurs in achieving their marketing dreams. Angel has secured media coverage in prominent outlets such as the Austin American-Statesman, Austin Business Journal, KVUE, KXAN, and Austin Woman, among others, including national coverage in Bloomberg, Texas Monthly, and The Architect's Newspaper.Beyond her professional commitments, her community involvement is substantial. She serves as the President-Elect on the Board of Directors and is the Founder of the Communicators of Color Affinity Group for the Women Communicators of Austin. She also serves as the DEI Board Chair for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), a Leadership Austin alumni, and actively mentors young women from her alma mater in their pursuit of careers in marketing and communications.
