The main aim of my research activity is to study deregulated pathways underlying rare and severe skin diseases, with a focus on recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa-associated fibrosis, in order to improve our understanding of their molecular bases and to develop innovative therapeutic approaches. I am also interested in genotype-phenotype correlations in patients with different (sub)types of epidermolysis bullosa as a strategy to identify disease-modifying mechanisms and in the expression levels and role of non-coding RNAs in different disease models.
