Research under Dr. Wei-Chun Chin that revolves around biosensors, microfluidic devices, histamine secretion using nanoparticles, and Calcium Influx.Skill set:-Prototyped a graphene biosensor for Coccidioidomycosis and tested the resistance change through antibody-antigen interactions with an electrochemical analyzer. -Analyzed how TiO2 nanoparticles negatively affect airway mucus secretion and how CeO2 minimizes it. The affects of TiO2 and CeO2 nanoparticles was observed through ELISA, and [Ca2+]c, mitochondrial damage, ROS production, cck assays. I am part of the undergraduate team that uses dynamic light scattering to characterize various nanoparticles, and fluorescent microscopy involving diatoms that are introduced to nanoparticles, and various chemicals like WAF, CWAF, and Corexit so that they release extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). Undergraduate research under Dr. Beate Illek for Children's Hospital of Oakland Research Institute. This internship revolved around using Ussing chambers to test various drug treatments on CFBEo cells with a ΔF508 mutation. Experimented with normal bronchial cells, cfbe (cystic fibrosis bronchial epithelia), and cfbe cells pre-treated VX-809 and VX-661. The Cl current of the cells were measured and tested using Amiloride, Forskolin, VX-770, Inh-172, and ATP (to make sure the cells are still alive).
