I was responsible for overseeing all operations on a 160,000 tonnes per annum, state of the art anaerobic digestion plant. This included, but is not limited to, managing 11 shift operators and 5 shift maintenance engineers, ensuring production is efficient and downtime is limited, ensuring high health and safety standards are met and maintained, organising both proactive and reactive maintenance on site, ordering operational and engineering supplies, ensuring environmental compliance and training.Key Achievements:• Managing plant from construction completion, through commissioning and snagging, right through to sustained production• Created and implemented PAS110 quality protocol• Appointed Health and Safety Officer on site• Appointed Fire Officer on site• Training a workforce who are completely new to the technology• Implemented and maintained Health and Safety Policy including training employees, training fire marshals and chairing quarterly committee meetings• Attending callouts and dealing with emergencies on site• Implementing a training plan for all employees

The main purpose of my role is to manage and take full responsibility for the operation of the EA permitted plant. This is to include maximising the long term profitability and ensuring plant operations are safe, efficient and effective.Key Achievements:• Running the plant with an availability of 95%.• Getting all the office administration sorted out and up to date.• Improved the health and safety standard dramatically.• I took part in a question panel at the ADBA 2014 conference.• I was interviewed by BBC Radio about our site.• Maintaining our BSI14001 standard.• Creating and implementing the management system that led to us being one of only 20 or so plants in the UK to be awarded PAS110 status. We have it for both fibre and liquor.• I am currently looking into new technologies to improve the handling and storage of digestate.

Hilgay, Norfolk

Dents of Hilgay is a family run farm shop and garden centre that grows their own produce. Recently they have been expanding and building a new extension. As such, my primary responsibilities were to run the farming side. Key Achievements:• Have been hired multiple times throughout university holidays which show that I am dependable, hard working and a good team member.• Working to a deadline as I had to send out farm produce on time.• Be versatile in day to day activities. One day I could be harvesting, the next, working on the build site.• Working long hours in peak seasons.• During harvesting, I would be working as a team to get the produce processed and dispatched on time. However, during land preparation, I would be working on my own which requires personal drive.
