Upon the creation of Xero's APAC layer I was elevated to Head of GX for APAC, sitting on the APAC Senior Leadership team.Responsibilities included continuing to manageXero's government relations in Australia, while developing operating efficiencies for the APAC region. This included standardising some processes and procedures, as well as actions such as campaigns, consultations and engagement. Successes fall into four categories: stakeholder management, industry group optimisation, internal process optimisation and influencing policy.

Upon the introduction of a formal government relations function at Xero (GX) I was promoted to Head of GX and became a member of the AU Senior Leadership Team.Responsibilities included working with the GX EGM to determine new systems and processes for the new function, demonstrating the value of a more mature government relations function in-region, and positioning myself as a leader within the GX team to share the lessons from Xero's most mature market with colleagues. Successes included: representing the business and the function at major external events including Xero roadshow and Xerocon; collaborating with a broad range of internal stakeholders around the world to incrementally change Australia's Consumer Data Right Rules to be more supportive of business participation; and deeper, more strategic participation and management of external industry groups.

Responsible for small business public policy advocacy, working towards a small business environment that supports small businesses to succeed. The role required me to prioritise opportunities, develop internal policy positioning in collaboration with internal stakeholders and execute advocacy through forums ranging from media to direct engagement with senior ministers.Successes included elevating Xero's reputation among government stakeholders, the introduction of the Payment Times Reporting Framework, and mentoring two businesses in the Government's Digital Champions Project.
