Travelers Canada become the 10th largest Property and Casualty Insurer in Canada after purchasing The Dominion in 2013. I was hired to lead the +$20M effort to implement and maintain the new Policy Administration system for Canada. My success in delivering using Lean-Agile methods allowed me to expand my role to have delivery oversight across multiple core systems.

I accepted the opportunity to introduce the disciplines they needed to evolve their Project Management and Business Analysis Competencies where my success allowed me expand to be accountable for delivering all development work across the IT organization.

Sherwood Systems, subsequently purchased by SunGard, is a software vendor and services company delivering large-scale insurance solutions internationally. I was brought on to lead their delivery organization that was supporting over 6 simultaneous implementations and support agreements with a combined value of ~ $120 Million annually.

Castek was a growing Insurance software vendor of roughly 300 people going through rapid growth as it brought on new customer account of roughly +$10M in annual services. I was specifically sought out based on my SXC experience to help transition through the growth pains of moving from a single customer custom development shop to a product based, multi-customer organization. Unfortunately there was not sufficient time to overcome the current challenges and the organization was forced to scale back over 90% of its workforce within 8 months.

SXC, was a $50M a year software vendor developing a high-end Pharmacy Benefits processing system. I was brought on initially as an Analyst and System Designer for the company’s only major account which was at risk of being cancelled. I took over the delivery team and completed the implementation so we could bring in new revenues through the transaction fees. As we stabilized financially and grew, I took on broader leadership over Product development and account management, supporting the idea that we all did whatever needed to be done to make the company succeed.

Ottawa, Canada Area

Computing Devices Canada was a Defense contractor in Canada, awarded a $2B contract to provide the Canadian government with a Battlefield Communications system. As a graduate engineer, I was specifically brought in to take lead of the sub-contract to deliver the Audio Ancillaries, valued at over $100M. This quickly expanded to an opportunity to be relocated to the sub-contractors facility in the UK to oversee the technology transfer of the radios back to Canada.
