About Angus Dawson

Angus has over 40 years experience in the fields of property development and construction. He has worked as an advisor, director and in executive roles in private and public sector in New South Wales, Queensland and throughout the UK.In government, as CEO, Angus led the $3.45 billion Building the Education Revolution, The Growth Centres Commission and the Honeysuckle Development Corporation. He led the team to establish the $3.4 billion NSW Prison Bed Capacity program and has overseen the delivery of six Hospital projects in NSW. In the private sector Angus established Lansdown Homes, an integrated residential development company in Sydney and Brisbane. He was instrumental in bringing the development division of Urban Pacific (formally Pioneer Homes) to commercial profitability. Angus has been involved in bench mark projects such as Forest Lake and Ginninderry. Angus is a Life member and past President of the New South Wales division of the Urban Development Institute of Australia, past chair of the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. Past directorships include Cameron Brae, the ACT Suburban Land Agency, Ginninderry Joint Venture, City West Housing and the Illawarra Housing Trust.     Angus was responsible for delivering the Commonwealth Government’s Building the Education Revolution Program of 4,660 projects in 2,179 schools valued at $3.45 billion in just over two years. The program was seven times larger than the Department's annual capital works program. It delivered 4,500 projects simultaneously in operating NSW schools within the specified constraints of time, cost and quality. The whole program was delivered in 24 months and $100m under budget.Individual projects were delivered on average, in less than half the time school projects are usually delivered.

    Coordination of $8 billion in state infrastructure and planning of 181,000 new homes and town centres in western Sydney for the next 40 years.In the first three years of operation, The Growth Centres Commission rezoned 40,000 lots. Each rezoning included new LEPs, DCPs, Section 94 plans and all required state infrastrucure in the NSW Budget forward estimates.The GCC established the Special Infrastrucure Contribution (SIC) with a direct nexus to state infrastrucure and a Works in Kind regime to allow equitable private funding of state infrastrucure.Working with Loacl Government and industry, the GCC established the first Complying Development code in NSW, reducing dwelling approvals from six months to two weeks. The GCC secured bio-diversity certification for the Growth Centres for twenty years, negating the requirement for Threatened Species Act compliance at development application while providing an improved bio-diversity outcome. It also negotiated an Aboriginal Heritage protocol, lifting the statutory concurrence for aboriginal heritage from development application to precinct rezoning.
