Angus Gray Email and Phone Number
I have been a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon for over 20 years. I have a specialty interest in spinal deformity. I also perform that surgery on older patients, particularly those with neuromuscular type curves. I have experience in medical leadership, being Head of Department at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick for over 10 years, Chair of the Medical Staff Council for 2 years and a long-standing member of that Executive. My interest in medical education is broad, including a background in role play acting for communication skills, facilitating workshops in communication and being an Instructor in Professional Skills for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). In 2022, I completed a Masters degree in Surgical Education from the University of Melbourne. In 2000, I was awarded the Education Award by the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the following year, the Surgeon General John White Medal for services to health. In 2020, after 9 years as an examiner for RACS, I took up the position of Senior Examiner. The pandemic necessitated major changes in the delivery and format of the Fellowship Exams. As a group, we worked hard to make this possible, despite multiple difficulties, and were able to do deliver 4 exams up to May 2022, for record numbers of candidates. I continue pro bono work for various charities including ROMAC and the Moira Kelly Creating Hope Foundation and was a long term Board Member for SpineCare.
