Most recently I gave a CMMI presentation to the IET in Switzerland. I have also presented at a number of Thales events that have had a worldwide Thales attendance.

I have taken up a new position within the central quality team at Thales UK. I will provide the expertise for the Thales UK to review and ensure that any new UK processes added to the management system are compatible with the CMMI models principles. I am also supporting the sustainment of the Thales company management system. I have also added the role of CI coordinator to my role. I ensure that there is a cohesive strategy on Business improvement initiatives carried out in Thales UK.Accreditation SupportI am a qualified internal auditor covering ISO 9001, 14000 and OHAS18001 processes.I have supported all of the ISO audits that have been undertaken in this timescale. This is for the ISO 9001, AS9100 Rev C, ISO 14001 and OHAS18001, and the Tickit assessments.I have helped set up the audit planning for the company. I have undertaken analysis of audit data latterly with the Process Implementation and Verification System (PIVS) to support the accreditation process.I have also put in place a mapping/compliance matrix from the reference standard questions in PIVS and AS9100 Rev C.Reference SystemI am the local reference system coordinator and as such the first port of call to answer any reference system questions.I also am responsible for the management locally of the query tool for the reference system.Trainer ActivitiesI have been the main trainer for the roll out of two reference systems.I have delivered Thales domain wide CMMI taster courses to all disciplines. I was the UK trainer for the Thales system that will audit adherence to the company reference system across Thales UK.

My day job covers the setting up and review of the Thales Optronics CMMI initiative. This involves the review of the process improvement and covering how well these improvements have been incorporated into the company. This is in the form of review informally and formally through the use of the CMMI Institute endorsed SCAMPI methodology.Naval DepartmentI started work as a software engineer on the Vanguard submarine class. I then progressed to working on the Royal Australian Navy Periscope. I became the Engineering manager for the periscopes department looking after 20 people ranging from apprentices to 40 year serving employees. This covered the whole range of engineering tasks from new design through to the in-service support activities.Configuration Management SupportI worked in the configuration management department to work on the release of the new Sherpa management system. I was involved in the development of the tool with the supplier through to the delivery of the training and support to the users.Software Head of DisciplineI was responsible for ensuring that the software process was being followed and led a team of auditors in undertaking this activity. I was responsible for delegating to the appropriately trained personnel of Software Quality Controller stamps.Engineering manager for the helmets department running a team of 6 engineers successfully delivering a fully working demonstrator to SAAB in conjunction with a South African supplier for the Hawk plane.Engineering Interface ManagerMain responsibilities working with the various interfaces into engineering through the data management, manufacturing, configuration management, programme management. This was working on the tools support that was required to allow engineering to continue to deliver.Lean ActivitiesI have qualified as a lean green belt. I have competed a thirteen-week project within the timescales. I have taken part and facilitated a number of root cause sessions.
