    Invest & Give was a ground breaking new initiative, from 12 of the leading UK fund management groups, that aimed to provide clients with excellent investment returns whilst at the same time providing a stream of income to charity. The first fund was launched in July 2009 with the Prince's trust as the chosen charity and North’s John Husselbee as the manager. Regretfully it has been decided to close the fund as sufficient assets had not been raised to make it economic. The short version is that the last 12 months has proved that investors invest with their heads and donors donate to charity with their hearts and though these may be joined by tissue they do not interrelate enough to make the utility of a fund doing both investment and donations be of interest to the public.

    Appointed in 2007 to take the Smith & Williamson managed funds into the adviser market. Key tasks were to create a plan for the distribution of the funds, re-brand those funds we wished to sell to Smith & Williamson from Nucleus, re-price the funds to industry norms to enable adviser trail commission to be paid, engage the fund managers to get them to document their investment processes and build the infrastructure to support the sales efforts. We also had to re-engineer the fund manager oversight process to achieve a better degree of oversight and understanding of what they were doing.Fund highlights were the initial success of the Gold & Resources Fund, the move of the Smith & Williamson Cash Trust from the UK to Dublin to take advantage of advantageous personal tax position resulting in a 10 fold increase in AUM, the launch of the Short-Dated Bond Fund, again in Dublin for tax reasons, giving clients access to a segment of the bond market untapped hitherto. Latterly working on the launch of a UCITs III UK Equity long/short fund based on an existing Cayman fund which required project management of product development, sourcing of VAR, PB services as well as managing the different services required from S&Ws resources such as the ACD.
