About Andrew Hale

I have a wide range of operational Linux experience through positions at Rackspace Hosting where I was a senior support engineer before helping develop Openstack as part of the team who created Openstack Swift and ran the Cloudfiles distributed object storage platform. I have worked in tiny startups providing expert big data consultancy into financial organisations and I have been responsible for the services and infrastructure of one of the UK's highest profile charities, planning cloud transformation projects, running payment and commerce infrastructure during TV telethons and working closely with industry and research groups to build platforms.I have always built high performance systems regardless of scale, from low transaction but incredibly valuable serverless tools to empower medical researchers, to highly available public cloud storage platforms storing hundreds of petabytes of data. I'm proud to have worked on many systems that have had real impact on the world .Through all these experiences I have always pushed to learn new technologies and maintain best practices, following devops and reliability engineering practices, working closely with agile project teams and always looking to understand and improve systems. I love building elegant systems with the best technologies available.
