About Anh-Thu Lam
I spent three years as a research assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Bryan Ballif at the University of Vermont, where I completed an undergraduate honors thesis studying tyrosine 504 phosphorylation on the regulation of Collapsin Response Mediator Protein 1, a key effector protein involved in neuronal guidance and brain development. After completing a B.S. in Biochemistry and a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature, I joined the laboratory of Dr. Christopher Walsh at Boston Children's Hospital researching an array of developmental disorders of the human brain. Along with a team of MD and PhD Post-Doctoral fellows, I investigated the prevalence of somatic mutations in several neurodevelopmental diseases associated with autism and intellectual disability. I am a graduate of the Human Genetics and Molecular Biology Predoctoral Program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Under the mentorship of Dr. Garry Cutting, I characterized and evaluated potential genetic modifiers of Cystic Fibrosis. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins under the guidance of Dr. Dimitri Avramopoulos studying to accurately model the effects of disease associated variants in the context of Schizophrenia with the goal of understanding the possible dynamic relationship between functionality and LD. I transitioned out of working as an expert consultant at DRT Strategies, INC. in support of the FDA Office of New Drugs and have embarked on a new journey in patent law.
