Functioned as Senior Systems Engineer for aplaceformom.com. A Place For Mom Inc. is a free nationwide referral service helping families find nursing homes, assisted living, Alzheimer’s care, retirement communities, home care, and other senior care options. The nationwide Eldercare Advisors place families in senior care facilities. I was responsible for the production and corporate infrastructures. A typical day is handling day-to-day operations and maintenance of both data centers. Here is a list of projects that I have designed and implemented: -IIS 5.0 to IIS 6.0 Migration of all web servers. Prior to this project APFM was plagued with poor web performance and stability.-Migrated all servers from Windows Server 2000 to Windows Server 2003. This included additional AD servers in the production and corporate environments.-Design and Implemented SQL Server 2005 64bit MSCS cluster in a two-instance active\active configuration. This replaced five aging SQL 2000 servers. This project allowed us to consolidate our DB servers and reduce the total amount of management and overhead needed. This project reduced licensing fees and reduced backup times significantly. We had a major performance increase to our web based CRM by replacing the older 32bit servers. This cluster was attached to a HA MSA1000 SAN and gave us a very fast, redundant, inexpensive storage solution.-Created production domain controllers to isolate production systems from corporate systems.-Implemented a Cisco VPN solution using Cisco Pix 515e. A radius server utilized to handle active directory authentication. This allowed us to move our CRM behind the firewall for higher security. The only way to access our internal CRM is via VPN. This is used by 300 advisors on day-to-day bases.
