When I was a bit younger, it was difficult for me to choose which career path I wanted to pursue. I loved learning more than anything--be it music, the arts, language, tinkering with the sciences and math. I’ve entered numerous competitions to test my skills: Regional Visual Arts Competitions, Science Fairs, Language Arts Competitions, High School Varsity Choirs, Varsity Volleyball, and Regional Piano Competitions in Jazz and Classical Music. I always loved the thrill of finding something interesting and new, and challenging it head-on. I believe that is what drew me to my major in Information Technology.I was told I had a knack for language—I was born outside America and learned to balance English and Filipino, my home language, in order to learn to communicate with my relatives and the people at school. However, senior year of high school, I had found Computer Science. Coding was a language that seemed to challenge all of my skills, from the creativity of the arts, to the problem-solving skills of math and science, to even the clarity and succinctness that I have learned from language. I was hooked. I have learned JavaScript, and with my major, now take on the challenge of learning other programming languages like C and C++. Every project to me ignites my passion for learning, as it has always been an excitement to me to find the results of each line of code as it compiles and runs.I loved my major for its malleability and for its ability to let me specialize in something that will help me forward my career in Information Technology. And with my love for language, naturally, Technical Writing came along. I was amazed at how similar coding and technical writing were. I was always a stickler for the details—be it how organized the output in my code was, to the nuances of words, their meanings, and their implications in sentences. I always want to communicate what I need done in a clear and succinct way, where there is no room for misunderstanding. I love to make everything as close to perfect as I am able to and work hard to meet the standards I set for myself.Most of all, I have the drive to grow better than I am, to be the best person that I can be. I’m inquisitive. I ask the stupid questions that no one else wants to ask because I know that I will learn from them. I take the classes that I know best benefit my career path and stick close to the wisdom and experience of those older than me. I hope that wherever I end up in the future, I learn from my time at every company and that they support my growth and learning.
